Role Summary:
The Visitor Experience Associate plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring a memorable experience for all visitors to Philadelphia and its neighboring areas. In this position, you will engage actively with tourists and local guests of diverse backgrounds, welcoming them warmly, addressing their inquiries about attractions, events, and historical landmarks, and facilitating ticket sales for various tours, museums, and special exhibits.

  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Welcome visitors, answer their questions, foster engagement, and provide top-notch customer service.
    • Offer accurate and current information regarding attractions, services, events, and activities in the region.
    • Identify and meet customer needs, such as directions, daily itineraries, accommodations, and attractions.
    • Assist customers with reservations for attractions, hotels, tours, and dining as requested.
    • Sell tickets for tours, attractions, museums, events, and exhibits; promote available deals and opportunities.
    • Encourage additional purchases through cross-selling techniques.
    • Ensure precise opening and closing of cash registers and manage ticket inventory daily.
    • Address and resolve guest complaints to ensure satisfactory outcomes.
    • Maintain a positive demeanor and prioritize customer satisfaction in a fast-paced setting.
    • Communicate effectively with visitors through various channels.
    • Adhere to professional appearance standards in line with company uniform policies.
    • Keep the visitor information desk organized and presentable.
    • Maintain a tidy and well-stocked workspace, ensuring all job-related equipment is operational.
    • Assist in training new Visitor Experience Associates.
    • Perform additional tasks as needed.

Position Requirements:
Applicants must be flexible with their schedules, including availability on weekends and U.S. holidays, as the visitor center operates 363 days a year. Candidates should possess a strong knowledge of the city and surrounding areas, with the ability to provide accurate and timely information. Excellent communication and time management skills are essential, along with a detail-oriented and organized approach to multitasking in a busy environment. Problem-solving abilities are also crucial.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience.
  • A college degree or progress towards one is preferred.
  • Multilingual abilities are advantageous.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, collaborative environment is beneficial.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel) and other relevant software applications is required.

Core Competencies:

  • Ability to engage with customers and visitors to identify their needs and provide suitable solutions.
  • Capability to learn and utilize point-of-sale systems effectively.
  • Proficiency in processing sales and transactions with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Ability to learn and maintain knowledge about the Greater Philadelphia area, offering information and directions to visitors.
  • Skill in executing and communicating programs in collaboration with vendors, hotels, visitor bureaus, and tour partners.
