Job Summary:

The Security Officer I position is responsible for safeguarding personnel, assets, and interests within the National Guard Employment Network's operational footprint. This role employs armed physical security tactics, screenings, highly technical security event monitoring, and security event response.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Protect personnel, assets, and interests through the implementation of armed physical security measures, screenings, and technical security event monitoring.
  • Respond to security events in a timely and effective manner, utilizing sound logic and reasoning to identify alternative solutions and approaches.
  • Collaborate with Operating Company and Corporate Security groups to ensure seamless security operations.
  • Evaluate and determine the appropriate action in response to Physical Security Perimeter (PSP) intrusion events.
  • Utilize software systems, such as Software House CCURE and Avigilon Video Management System (VMS), to monitor and respond to security events.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with various stakeholders, including employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Perform physical activity, including running, walking, and lifting, as required by the role.
  • Operate a Georgia Power fleet vehicle, adhering to company policies and procedures.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's/associate degree preferred or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Training certification reflecting knowledge of industry standards and best practices.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in law enforcement, military, private, or industrial security.
  • Ability to work shift work, holidays, overtime, during inclement weather, and call out.
  • Must pass psychological test, drug test, firearms evaluation, and Internal Threat Program.
  • Must qualify for firearm use and re-qualify annually with semi-auto pistol and shotgun.
  • Must obtain and maintain a valid state firearm permit and driver's license.
  • Ability to obtain and remain licensed through the Georgia Secretary of State - Board of Private Detectives and Security Agencies.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of Software House CCURE and Avigilon Video Management System (VMS) Software.
  • Understanding of NERC (North American Electric Reliability Council) CIP-006 and CIP-014 security standards.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Superior computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work with minimal direct supervision and make decisions within prescribed policies and procedures.
Working Conditions:

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to stress and pressure. The Security Officer I must be able to multitask, perform computer data entry while handling phone calls, and maintain effective communication with various stakeholders.

Physical Demands:

The Security Officer I position requires the ability to perform physical activity, including running, walking, and lifting. The role also requires the ability to wear and maintain personal protection equipment.
