Position Overview:
The Cellular Therapy Transplant Specialist plays a crucial role in our mission of advancing health together. This position is situated within the esteemed Duke University Hospital, renowned for its excellence in healthcare delivery.

Department Profile:
The Department of Hematologic Malignancies & Cellular Therapy (HMCT) at Duke University Hospital is committed to delivering outstanding care to ensure an exceptional patient experience. This role focuses on innovative cellular therapies, particularly CAR-T (Chimeric Antigen Receptor T-cells) and TIL (Tumor-Infiltrating Lymphocytes) products, which represent a rapidly evolving area in Oncology.

Key Responsibilities:
The expectations for this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Educating patients and their families about all aspects of cellular therapy, including scheduling follow-up appointments and coordinating with a multidisciplinary team to address patient-specific needs.
  • Collaborating closely with HMCT faculty and staff to maintain accurate information regarding commercial CAR-T products, patients, and relevant data.
  • Communicating effectively with patients and caregivers about the care plan and any ongoing changes.
  • Ensuring alignment and communication with pharmaceutical vendors.
  • Tracking all patient-related care data, including visits, quality metrics, and outcomes.
  • Facilitating continuity of care across inpatient, outpatient, and long-term management settings.
  • Making informed clinical judgments based on current research and principles to address complex challenges.
  • Working collaboratively with medical faculty, pharmacy, nursing personnel, case management, and other health disciplines to meet patient and family needs.
  • Completing regulatory documentation for FACT and REMS training.
  • Reviewing educational materials and collaborating with the department on updates to current practices.

Qualifications:
Education: RN, BSN required; MSN preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience; preferred experience in hematologic malignancies, blood & marrow transplant, and/or cellular therapies.
Licensure: Current or compact RN licensure in North Carolina required. BLS certification is also required.

Skills and Abilities:
Attention to detail, effective communication skills, ability to multitask and prioritize demands, patient-centered coaching skills, and capacity to thrive in a high-stress environment.

Work Hours:
Full-time, day shift, salaried position.
