Position: Cellular Therapy Transplant Specialist
Duke University Health System is seeking a skilled Cellular Therapy Transplant Specialist who will align with our mission of Advancing Health Together.

Department Overview:
The Department of Hematologic Malignancies & Cellular Therapy (HMCT) at Duke University Hospital is committed to delivering exceptional care to ensure an outstanding patient experience. This role focuses on commercial cellular therapies, particularly CAR-T (Chimeric Antigen Receptor T-cells) and TIL (Tumor-Infiltrating Lymphocytes) products, which represent cutting-edge treatments in Oncology.

Key Responsibilities:
The expectations for this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Educating patients and families on all aspects of cellular therapy, including scheduling follow-up appointments and collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to address patient-specific needs.
  • Working closely with HMCT faculty and staff to serve as a reliable source of information regarding commercial CAR-T products, patients, and data.
  • Communicating effectively with patients and caregivers about the care plan and any ongoing changes.
  • Maintaining consistent communication and alignment with pharmaceutical vendors.
  • Tracking all patient-related care data, including visits, quality metrics, and outcomes.
  • Ensuring continuity of care between inpatient, outpatient, and long-term management.
  • Making clinical judgments based on current research and best practices to resolve complex issues.
  • Collaborating with medical faculty, pharmacy, nursing staff, case management, and other health professionals to meet patient and family needs.
  • Completing regulatory documentation for FACT and REMS training.
  • Reviewing educational materials and coordinating with the department on any changes in current practices.

The Cellular Therapy Transplant Specialist is a vital member of a larger interdisciplinary team, contributing to excellence in patient care, research, and education while providing leadership within the organization.

Essential Physical Job Functions:

Education:
RN, BSN required; MSN preferred.

Experience:
Minimum Requirement: 2 years of clinical nursing experience. Preferred: 2 years of nursing experience in hematologic malignancies, blood & marrow transplant, and/or cellular therapies.

Licensure:
Current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina required. BLS certification is also required.
