Position Summary
The Pediatric Transplant and Cellular Therapy (PTCT) Clinical Service Nurse plays a vital role in delivering clinical expertise and care coordination for pediatric patients aged 0-21 years who are candidates for bone marrow or stem cell transplantation. This role involves active participation in the professional growth of nursing staff and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to enhance patient outcomes across various domains.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Expertise: Oversee the evaluation of new patients and donors, ensuring appropriate screening and coordination of necessary diagnostic tests.
  • Patient Education: Conduct comprehensive pre-transplant education sessions covering essential topics such as treatment protocols, potential side effects, and supportive care.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with healthcare professionals to establish effective communication and foster a collaborative environment focused on patient safety and clinical excellence.
  • Professional Development: Mentor nursing staff, facilitating their growth through educational opportunities and role modeling advanced nursing practices.
  • Quality Improvement: Engage in quality monitoring and improvement initiatives, integrating evidence-based practices into patient care.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.
  • Current, unrestricted RN license recognized by the appropriate nursing board.
  • Preferred certifications include CPHON and/or BMTCN.
  • A minimum of one year of relevant clinical nursing experience is required.

Physical and Mental Requirements:
Candidates must possess the ability to communicate effectively, utilize sensory and cognitive skills for patient assessments, and manage physical demands such as prolonged standing and lifting.

Work Schedule:
This position is full-time, typically requiring a Monday to Friday schedule with occasional weekend and holiday coverage.
