Compensation Operations Supervisor (Special Pay Officer)

Salary: $157,830.00

This role is situated within the Office of the Chief Financial Officer, specifically in the Office of Financial and Operations Systems (OFOS), under the Payroll Applications and Security Unit. The individual in this position will manage the functions of multiple payroll divisions within the Office of Pay and Retirement Services (OPRS), including the Control and Garnishment Unit, Supplemental Pay Unit, and the Special Pay Processing Unit. Responsibilities encompass payroll preparation and processing, along with associated tasks such as tax reporting, benefits-records management, wage attachment, and payroll maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee special payroll operations to ensure efficiency and compliance.
  • Utilize analytical skills to assess immediate program requirements and identify deficiencies.
  • Formulate recommendations and establish standard operating procedures.
  • Act as a subject-matter expert in resolving complex special pay challenges.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

A minimum of six (6) years of progressive experience in roles involving oversight of payroll systems management and maintenance. Candidates should possess expertise in financial regulations and principles pertinent to payroll operations, including garnishments and special pay. Experience with automated payroll or human capital management systems, such as PeopleSoft HCM, is essential, along with a thorough understanding of pay legislation. Additionally, at least two (2) years of supervisory experience is required.
