Job Overview:

Under general supervision, this position is responsible for executing a variety of semi-skilled technical tasks related to the upkeep and repair of municipal water treatment and collection systems.

Employees in this role adhere to established safety protocols, codes, and regulations relevant to their duties. They possess prior experience in the field and are capable of performing tasks independently, although their work is subject to review and inspection.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct technical maintenance, replacement, and repairs on water treatment and collection systems, including pumps, piping, wells, and distribution networks.
  • Prepare and submit work estimates for service requests; identify vendors and contractors for material or labor procurement.
  • Inspect facilities and equipment to detect existing or potential issues; report any breakdowns or obstructions to supervisors.
  • Assist in the maintenance of water valves and fire hydrants.
  • Utilize various hand and power tools for electrical and mechanical repairs, such as air wrenches, drills, and compressors.
  • Maintain detailed records and logs of mechanical maintenance and repairs.
  • Identify and mark City-owned utility properties and equipment.
  • Respond to emergency situations related to water distribution and wastewater systems.
  • Perform administrative tasks, including customer interactions, job paperwork, parts inventory, and preventive maintenance scheduling.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid Class B Florida Driver's License is required.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in utilities maintenance and repair, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • FDEP Water Distribution Level 1, 2, 3 Licenses must be obtained within one year of hire.
  • Backflow Prevention Certification is preferred.
