Position Overview:
Under general supervision, this role is designed to carry out a diverse range of semi-skilled technical tasks associated with the upkeep and repair of municipal water treatment and collection systems.

Key Responsibilities:
Employees in this position are expected to adhere to established safety protocols, codes, and regulations relevant to their work. They should possess prior experience in the field and be capable of executing tasks independently, although their work will be subject to review and inspection upon completion.

  • Conduct technical maintenance, replacement, and repair tasks on water treatment and collection facilities and equipment, including pumps, piping, wells, and distribution systems.
  • Prepare and submit estimates for work orders and identify vendors and contractors for necessary materials or labor.
  • Inspect facilities and equipment to identify current or potential issues, promptly informing supervisors of any breakdowns or obstructions.
  • Assist in the maintenance program for water valves and fire hydrants.
  • Utilize a variety of hand and power tools for electrical and mechanical repairs, such as air wrenches, drills, and compressors.
  • Maintain detailed records and logs of mechanical maintenance and repairs.
  • Locate and mark municipal utility property and equipment.
  • Respond to emergency situations related to water distribution and wastewater collection systems.
  • Perform administrative tasks, including face-to-face customer interactions and documentation for all jobs, parts used, hours worked, and preventive maintenance scheduling.

Qualifications:
A High School Diploma or GED is required. Candidates must possess and maintain a valid Class B Florida Driver's License. A minimum of two years of experience in semi-skilled utilities maintenance and repair work, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is necessary. Candidates should obtain FDEP Water Distribution Level 1, 2, or 3 Licenses within one year of hire, and Backflow Prevention Certification is preferred.

Work Environment:
This position involves typical risks or discomforts that necessitate normal safety precautions, such as the use of safe workplace practices and adherence to fire and building safety regulations.
