Role Overview

The Retail Team is responsible for the operation of the museum's acclaimed retail outlet, recognized for offering top-quality products across various categories, and serves as a reliable source for all aspects of sexual wellness and enjoyment. As the Museum of Sex continues to grow, the retail segment plays a vital role in this development. The Stock Management Associate is essential in supporting the Retail Business Objectives by enhancing customer satisfaction through effective stock management and presentation of products. Collaboration is fundamental to our operations, and the Stock Associate will work closely with fellow Stock leaders and the Retail team to ensure an exceptional experience for all visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • The Stock Management Associate significantly impacts daily operations by ensuring accurate product reception and adherence to display standards, maintaining a visually appealing environment.
  • Inspect and count incoming stock for any damages or defects.
  • Affix identification and pricing labels to merchandise.
  • Utilize the POS system to monitor inventory, manage deliveries, and stay informed on pricing and cost adjustments.
  • Oversee stock procedures, including receiving shipments, tagging products, replenishing the sales floor, liaising with vendors, and compiling daily reports.
  • Maintain awareness of replenishment needs for the retail sales area.
  • Possess knowledge of product offerings and their optimal placement on the sales floor.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of stock and merchandise, applying first-in, first-out principles where applicable.
  • Uphold the appearance and functionality of designated areas, including product displays and stock rooms.
  • Be well-versed in the museum's history, programs, and events, effectively sharing this information with guests.
  • Facilitate communication with key support departments as necessary.
  • Keep relevant team members informed about stock levels, order statuses, and any discrepancies.
  • Assist with floor merchandising and product placement adjustments.
  • Capable of lifting packages weighing up to 30lbs and moving throughout the retail space.
  • Perform additional tasks as required.

Qualifications

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Proficient in processing information and merchandise through computer systems and POS technology.
  • Background in stock management, organization, and merchandising preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with diverse individuals.
  • Dependable and approachable, enjoying teamwork.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Relevant experience in Theater, Entertainment, Events, Hospitality, Customer Service, or Nightlife is advantageous.
  • Multilingual abilities are a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with effective communication, especially in high-pressure situations.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
  • High integrity and reliability with a focus on urgency and results.
