Position Overview

The Transportation Planning and Management (TPM) division is dedicated to ensuring the safe, efficient, and environmentally conscious movement of individuals and goods across the city’s infrastructure. This role supports the broader objectives of enhancing economic and social vitality for residents, workers, and businesses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team focused on advancing transportation initiatives through various studies and projects.
  • Assist in a range of traffic and transportation operational and safety studies, including street direction modifications, curb cut assessments, and site access evaluations.
  • Collect and analyze traffic operations and safety data, performing technical analyses such as intersection Level-of-Service (LOS) evaluations and crash assessments.
  • Utilize engineering software, including Synchro and HCS, to conduct traffic analyses in accordance with established methodologies.
  • Prepare detailed reports and visual materials for presentations, and engage with community boards and other stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in HCS, Synchro/SimTraffic, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Solid understanding of transportation planning and traffic engineering principles, including familiarity with relevant manuals and guidelines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

1. A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field, with at least one year of relevant experience; or

2. A bachelor’s degree along with a master’s degree in civil engineering.
