Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled professional to take on the role of Lead Electrical Systems Engineer. This position requires a deep understanding of technical principles to independently conduct maintenance operations that guarantee the safe, efficient, and compliant functioning of Seminole Electric's generating facilities and transmission networks. The role encompasses overseeing complex tasks related to troubleshooting, calibrating, repairing, testing, and analyzing system components and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and execute maintenance and commissioning test plans that align with regulatory compliance, corporate standards, and industry best practices.
  • Conduct operational assessments and tests on generation and substation assets, including power circuit breakers, transformers, and protective relaying systems.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on substation equipment and associated systems.
  • Utilize advanced testing equipment to interpret data for effective problem resolution and operational safety.
  • Lead investigations into operational incidents to identify root causes and propose corrective actions.
  • Ensure adherence to NERC PRC standards and maintain documentation for compliance verification.
  • Provide technical mentorship to junior technicians in protection, control, and SCADA systems.
  • Assist in the development of technical specifications for major electrical equipment and systems.
  • Engage in the procurement process for system maintenance initiatives, including proposal development and bid evaluations.
  • Monitor and assess new technologies for potential integration into Seminole Electric's operations.
  • Prepare and validate designs for substation and switchyard configurations.
  • Ensure that wiring and control schemes are executed according to design specifications.
  • Support maintenance leadership in budgeting, quality assurance, and training initiatives.
  • Manage projects related to system maintenance and compliance programs.
  • Adhere to compliance roles as designated, ensuring audit readiness and familiarity with internal compliance programs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the team and organizational goals.
Qualifications

A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution is essential. An advanced degree is preferred. Candidates should possess a minimum of eight years of relevant experience in the power systems sector, encompassing both generation and transmission environments. Field experience in troubleshooting and maintaining electrical systems is crucial. A Professional Engineer (PE) License is advantageous.
