Role Responsibilities
Under the guidance of the Senior Director of Programs, the Program Manager will support and oversee Liberty Hill's programmatic initiatives. The primary focus in the initial year will be on Environmental Justice programs, including the Thriving Communities Grant Making Program (TCGM), EJ Ready, Environmental Leadership Initiative (ELI), and STAND LA, while also providing support across various programmatic areas.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Actively engaging in program meetings and team initiatives, such as competitive grantmaking and capacity-building programs, outreach, landscape analysis, and strategic planning.
- Creating training materials and leading training sessions.
- Coordinating, planning, scheduling, organizing, and facilitating meetings within Liberty Hill Foundation and with community partners.
- Managing logistics for virtual meetings, including scheduling, stakeholder outreach, agenda creation, speaker recruitment, translation, technical support, registration, and meeting facilitation.
- Collaborating in the development of a curriculum design team to propose effective learning modules on climate themes.
- Assisting in the preparation of foundation reports and proposals.
- Supporting the processing of financial reimbursements, invoices, and reports.
- Coordinating with Liberty Hill staff regarding Environmental Justice activities.
- Researching and cataloging studies and policies related to Climate Equity Roadmaps.
- Collaborating with communications and advancement teams on current activities and related messaging.
- Staying informed about renewable energy, climate resilience hubs, and just transition practices, including popular education techniques for diverse audiences.
- Monitoring policy developments at the LA County Board of Supervisors regarding oil drilling.
- Providing administrative support as needed.
Your role will involve policy research and curriculum development while working closely with both internal and external stakeholders. You will primarily coordinate initiatives aimed at addressing environmental inequities and promoting climate justice in marginalized communities in Los Angeles, collaborating with community partners to support sustainable and equitable environmental practices.

Program Administration
- Overseeing logistics for virtual meetings, including scheduling, stakeholder outreach, agenda creation, speaker recruitment, translation, technical support, registration, and facilitation.
- Participating in program meetings and team initiatives, contributing to capacity-building programs, outreach efforts, and strategic planning.
- Preparing and managing foundation reports, proposals, invoices, and reimbursements.
- Coordinating with Liberty Hill staff on Environmental Justice activities to ensure alignment and integration across teams.
Policy Advocacy and Research
- Conducting research and cataloging studies and policies on environmental and climate justice issues and Climate Equity Roadmaps.
- Engaging with policymakers and stakeholders on policy decisions, including tracking developments at the LA County Board of Supervisors regarding oil drilling.
- Staying updated on renewable energy, climate resilience hubs, and just transition practices, including best practice education techniques for diverse audiences.
Qualifications
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Education: BS/BA Degree preferred or equivalent, with a strong emphasis on personal lived/professional experience.
- 3+ years of progressively responsible experience in nonprofit, government, or labor union programs or campaigns.
- 2+ years leading organizing or policy advocacy campaigns.
- 2+ years working effectively with diverse and broad-based community constituencies.
- Ability to thrive in a highly collaborative environment requiring ongoing engagement with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
- Exceptional interpersonal and collaboration skills, capable of working effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Spanish is preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Ability to navigate and learn various software, specifically Slack, Asana, and SharePoint.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills.

Liberty Hill operates in a hybrid remote environment with a dedicated coworking space. While in-person elements vary by function, key aspects of this role involve face-to-face mentorship, in-person meetings, and events that require physical presence and participation.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to operate a remote workstation and laptop for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity in operating a computer keyboard and other office equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
- Must reside in Los Angeles County and be available for in-person collaboration when necessary.
