Position Title

Student Recruitment Specialist

Position Overview

The Engineering Student Success Center is in search of a proactive and enthusiastic professional to spearhead the recruitment and enrollment initiatives for the UNM School of Engineering. The selected candidate will be tasked with attracting students from New Mexico and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be expected to:
  • Act as a representative of UNM throughout New Mexico and neighboring states, engaging with middle schools, high schools, and community colleges to connect with prospective students.
  • Plan and manage year-round campus visits and tours for middle and high school students interested in Engineering or Computer Science, which includes organizing school visits, UNM information sessions, and delivering engaging presentations.
  • Support outreach and summer programs by creating promotional materials, visiting educational institutions, and evaluating applications from high school candidates.
  • Gather, analyze, and report on enrollment data to inform undergraduate recruitment strategies for the School of Engineering, while developing plans to enhance recruitment and retention.
  • Develop and distribute recruitment resources and materials to effectively communicate opportunities within the School of Engineering.
  • Perform additional duties as required.


Employment Conditions

Applicants must possess:
  • The ability to travel by vehicle or air, both locally and out of state.
  • A valid driver's license or the capability to obtain one within thirty days of employment.


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

A Bachelor’s degree along with a minimum of two years of relevant experience. Higher degrees from accredited institutions may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Desirable attributes include:
  • Experience in college/university student recruitment.
  • Familiarity with Engineering and Computer Science curricula at the collegiate level.
  • At least two years of experience in a higher education environment.
  • Knowledge of UNM programs.
  • Experience in managing business travel arrangements using a corporate credit card.
  • Familiarity with UNM Purchasing Card Policies & Procedures.
  • Experience with submitting reports through Chrome River.


Physical Requirements

Must be capable of lifting up to 30 lbs to transport recruitment materials.
