Position Summary:

The Engineering Student Success Center is in search of a proactive and enthusiastic individual to spearhead the recruitment and enrollment initiatives for the UNM School of Engineering. The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in attracting students from across New Mexico and from various out-of-state regions.

The ideal applicant will possess exceptional presentation skills, capable of engaging both small and large audiences. Regular personal interaction is expected, and the role demands a high level of energy and professionalism, as the individual will often represent the University and the School of Engineering at various recruitment events. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends is necessary, depending on the schedule of recruitment activities.

  • Actively represents UNM throughout New Mexico and neighboring states by visiting middle schools, high schools, and community colleges to engage with students and promote the UNM School of Engineering.
  • Coordinates and manages year-round campus visits and tours for middle and high school students interested in Engineering or Computer Science programs. This includes organizing school visits, UNM information sessions, and conducting engaging presentations for students, as well as providing academic and career counseling related to the School of Engineering's offerings.
  • Recruits and supports outreach and summer programs, which involves creating promotional materials, visiting educational institutions, and evaluating applications from prospective high school students.
  • Collects, analyzes, and reports on enrollment data pertaining to undergraduate recruitment efforts for the School of Engineering. This includes assessing recruitment and retention data to formulate strategies for program enhancement.
  • Develops and distributes recruitment resources and materials.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.


Conditions of Employment:
  • Willingness to travel by vehicle or air, both locally and out of state.
  • A valid driver's license or the ability to obtain one within thirty days of hire is required.


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience related to the specified duties.

Advanced degrees from accredited institutions may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in college/university student recruitment.
  • Familiarity with Engineering and Computer Science curricula at the university level.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a higher education environment.
  • Knowledge of UNM programs.
  • Experience in managing business travel arrangements using a corporate credit card.
  • Understanding of UNM Purchasing Card Policies & Procedures.
  • Experience with submitting Chrome River reports.


Additional Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs to transport recruitment materials on and off campus. A current valid driver's license is mandatory.
