POSITION SUMMARY

The Vice President of Strategy is responsible for delivering strategic direction for revenue enhancement through diverse corporate collaborations, fundraising efforts for grants and individual contributors, volunteer engagement, and new business ventures. This role requires active participation as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Engagement

  • Evaluate existing market trends and historical performance to formulate, propose, and execute strategic and innovative fundraising initiatives aimed at achieving annual objectives and optimizing corporate partnership outcomes in alignment with the organization's impact goals.
  • Oversee all aspects of corporate partnership activities, including:
    • Strategies to promote corporate partner revenue growth and enhance direct donor relationships.
    • Establish, implement, and fulfill objectives for corporate collaborations.
    • Manage strategic, tactical, and operational components of corporate partnership initiatives.
    • Guide the development and application of departmental reporting tools to illustrate current and historical revenue streams, assess the effectiveness of key fundraising strategies, and provide a comprehensive overview of existing and potential investors.
  • Lead initiatives to identify, nurture, engage, and acknowledge individual donors, implementing a full spectrum of fundraising programs to encourage lifelong giving.
  • Innovate and explore new business strategies to enhance corporate social responsibility and cause-related marketing efforts.
  • Direct the grants team in conducting comprehensive activities necessary for researching, preparing, submitting, and managing grant proposals to philanthropic, corporate, and governmental entities.
  • Supervise affinity groups to drive revenue and deepen engagement with the organization's mission.
  • Ensure collaboration among cross-functional teams to work cohesively and learn collectively to meet fundraising objectives.
  • Develop and manage the departmental budget.
  • Provide timely and accurate updates on campaign progress to the leadership team, Fundraising Committee, and Board of Directors.
  • Analyze current market trends and the local business landscape to devise, recommend, and implement strategic fundraising approaches.
  • Collaborate with the CEO to serve as the staff liaison to the Fundraising Committee regarding committee activities and reports.
  • Ensure the presence of a highly capable team to achieve all fundraising targets.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Marketing

  • Formulate strategies and oversee the organization’s marketing initiatives, encompassing digital marketing, thought leadership, and media relations to enhance the organization’s brand and stimulate revenue growth.
  • Manage all internal and external communications that connect the organization with stakeholders and facilitate fundraising efforts.
  • Accountable for the Marketing department budget.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree preferred.
  • Experience: 8-10 years of progressively responsible management experience, demonstrating success in leading and developing a diverse team, reporting to the board, and supervising management-level personnel. A minimum of 8 years of senior-level experience in fundraising and/or relationship sales development is essential.

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Extensive experience in driving complex planning and decision-making processes through volunteer and management structures.
  • Proven planning, operations, and project management capabilities.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; an effective listener and presenter.
  • Strong analytical and interpretive skills with internal and external data regarding the environment, customer needs, and industry trends.
  • Experience in customer service, sales, and/or marketing principles, with a track record of successful application.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time efficiently, and follow through on commitments.
  • Demonstrated team player with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to exercise tact and sound judgment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must have personal transportation for fieldwork (expense reimbursement available).

  • This position frequently communicates with leadership, staff, and the public, requiring the ability to exchange accurate information.
  • The individual must be able to remain stationary at their workstation 25% of the time and participate in meetings on and off-site 75% of the time.
  • Must be able to utilize personal transportation for community visits up to 100% of the time.
  • Frequent walking or standing is required.
  • The individual must be able to navigate within the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Hands are regularly used for writing, typing, and handling small controls.
  • Occasionally lift weights of up to 30 pounds (carrying devices provided).
