Role Summary: Responsible for aiding healthcare professionals in delivering patient care, transporting patients and equipment, preparing and maintaining patient rooms, and executing a variety of clerical, transcription, and maintenance tasks within the patient care unit.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist physicians and healthcare providers during routine examinations and procedures, as well as in the procurement of necessary equipment and supplies.
2. Conduct thorough reviews of patient care documentation, noting any significant changes in patient conditions, and promptly report these to a registered nurse or physician.
3. Perform various clerical duties, including organizing and prioritizing tasks, welcoming and directing visitors, researching information as requested, reviewing orders for accuracy, revising orders as needed, answering phone calls and patient call lights, transcribing physician orders, and maintaining medical records. Conduct routine quality assurance audits, safety checks, and inventory management of supplies. Provide administrative support, including performance improvement audits and data entry.
4. Offer clinical support by maintaining a clean work environment, ensuring office equipment is operational, troubleshooting common software and hardware issues, changing linens, checking supply levels, restocking supplies, transporting patients, supplies, and specimens, and assisting in the orientation of new staff and students.
5. Deliver direct personal care to patients as outlined in their care plans, including bathing, dressing, feeding, and assisting with mobility. Measure and document vital signs, height, and weight. May involve specimen collection, skin preparations, catheter care, blood glucose checks, basic wound care, range of motion exercises, and/or postural drainage.
6. Reinforce routine education provided to patients by registered nurses or physicians and document patient comprehension of instructions. Distribute educational materials to patients upon request.


Additional Information

Education Requirements:
● High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED)
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
● Listed as a Nursing Assistant I by the relevant state department
● Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Professional Experience Requirements:
● Minimum of six (6) months of clerical or customer service experience.
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
● Proficiency in verbal and written English. Ability to develop computer skills if not already competent.
