Unit Description:

Our facility features a specialized 30-bed medical-surgical unit focused on orthopedic care, handling procedures such as joint replacements and fracture repairs. Recognized nationally for excellence in orthopedic services.


Position Summary:

The Patient Care Technician provides essential direct and indirect care to patients in various healthcare settings under the supervision of registered nurses or physicians.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist healthcare professionals during examinations and procedures, ensuring the availability of necessary equipment and supplies.
  • In psychiatric environments, support patients through therapeutic activities, manage challenging behaviors, and ensure a safe and supportive atmosphere.
  • Monitor and document patient information, promptly reporting any significant changes to the supervising nurse or physician.
  • Guide patients and families through the admission and discharge processes, providing orientation to the healthcare environment.
  • Deliver care as outlined in the patient care plan, including vital signs monitoring, specimen collection, and personal care tasks.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the work area, restocking supplies, and assisting with clerical duties as needed.
  • Reinforce patient education provided by healthcare professionals and ensure understanding of care instructions.

Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.

Licensure/Certification:
  • Registered as a Nursing Assistant I with the appropriate health department.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers.

Experience:
  • Minimum of six months of relevant experience in a nursing assistant role.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Proficient in English, both written and verbal, with basic computer skills.
