Your Role

As we expand our operations at QuidelOrtho, we are seeking a dedicated in-house Junior Technical Support Engineer to become a vital part of our team. This role is perfect for individuals holding an Associate's degree in Electronics, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or a similar discipline, who are enthusiastic about applying their skills in a fast-paced, practical environment. The Junior Technical Support Engineer will play a crucial role in our processes, focusing on the refurbishment of certified analyzers to guarantee the delivery of top-quality products to our global clientele. This position involves various facets of production, including inspection, rebuilding, testing, and packaging, and offers the chance to contribute to a team that values innovation and excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently install, operate, maintain, repair, and modify electromechanical systems.
  • Execute detailed repair and maintenance activities on electromechanical systems in accordance with established protocols.
  • Diagnose and rectify technical challenges, ensuring adherence to high-quality standards.
  • Complete and manage Device History Record documentation to ensure comprehensive traceability and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Maintain all documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Identify and report nonconformance issues, contributing to corrective measures.
  • Achieve and uphold necessary certifications, demonstrating a commitment to continuous professional growth.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned, supporting the overall success of the team.

Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in Electronics, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Ability to effectively apply technical knowledge, showcasing proficiency in electromechanical systems, chemistry, computer science, or other relevant areas.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% for field training and professional development.
  • Excellent collaborative skills, with the ability to engage effectively with colleagues and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication abilities.
  • Capability to manage time efficiently and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in a related field, including internships or cooperative education experiences.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing, laboratory, or warehouse settings.
  • Experience with regulatory compliance and documentation in a technical context.

Working Relationships

  • Internal Collaborators: Work closely with Equipment Manufacturing Operators, Quality Engineers, Field Engineers, Customer Service, and Warehouse staff.
  • External Collaborators: Interact with Material Suppliers and Customers to ensure seamless service delivery.

Work Environment

This position is situated in a setting that combines manufacturing, laboratory, and warehouse elements, necessitating the ability to stand and walk for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 75lbs. It includes travel for field training and regular assembly and disassembly of laboratory equipment, sometimes involving the use of chemicals for final product testing.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position reflects a variety of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and the candidate's abilities, along with internal equity and market alignment. At QuidelOrtho, it is uncommon for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range for their role, as compensation decisions are based on the specifics of each case. The salary range for this position is competitive and includes eligibility for bonuses.
