The Role

As we expand our operations, we are looking for a Field Engineer Education Specialist to join our Technical Training team. The Field Engineer Education Specialist (FEES) will be responsible for providing technical and skills training to our Field Engineers, internal stakeholders, and Biomedical Engineers. This role involves delivering comprehensive training on highly regulated medical devices that necessitate field-based repairs. Training methods will include both instructor-led and virtual formats. The FEES will cover topics such as device theory, troubleshooting, e-Connectivity, disassembly, adjustment, repair, maintenance, device installation, servicing techniques, and compliant documentation practices.

The Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality training on instrumentation to Field Service Engineers and customer biomedical engineers within a regulated environment, focusing on safe and effective troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of Ortho Clinical Diagnostics products.
  • Manage classroom inventories and supplies to ensure effective training program delivery in a cost-efficient manner.
  • Enhance training outcomes through coaching, conducting Train-the-Trainer programs, and engaging in follow-up activities with fellow trainers.
  • Assist in developing training materials for new and existing products, emphasizing the use of innovative technologies for delivery.
  • Maintain and repair training equipment, including technical audio and video tools used for virtual training sessions.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams and projects related to product development, service publications, training documentation, and continuous learning initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with sales and service management across various levels.
  • Engage in ride-along activities with Field Engineers to identify best practices and stay updated on Ortho Clinical Diagnostics products, providing coaching and performance evaluations as needed.
  • Perform additional work-related duties as assigned.
The Individual
Required:
  • Education: An Associate's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Biomedical Engineering or equivalent experience (minimum of 2 years).
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining complex devices.
  • Experience in technical training.
  • Familiarity with innovative training delivery methods for a global audience.
  • Proficient in delivering technical training programs using various educational modalities, including web-based and classroom formats.
  • Experience with video-based training delivery.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated and well-organized.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel up to 30% domestically and/or internationally.
Preferred:
  • Experience with Ortho Clinical Diagnostics devices.
  • Instructor certification on Ortho Clinical Diagnostics products.
The Key Working Relationships
  • Frequent interaction with teams across the company focused on sales, customer service, technical service, product management, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.
The Work Environment

This position is primarily office-based, requiring the ability to set up and manage classroom environments, which may involve physical activities such as bending, reaching, and standing for extended periods. Travel may involve carrying training materials and navigating various locations.
