Field Services Technician Overview

About the Company: Mercury Broadband is a prominent provider of high-speed Internet and digital phone services. Established in response to the demand for Broadband Internet access in rural regions, the company employs a hybrid model to serve these "last-mile" customers by extending high-capacity fiber optic networks complemented by reliable wireless technologies. Mercury Broadband connected its first subscriber in December 2007 and has since expanded its network, headquartered in Kansas City, to serve communities across five Midwestern states.

Position Overview: The Field Services Team at Mercury Broadband represents the customer-facing aspect of the organization. Team members are expected to maintain a professional demeanor and appearance while being attentive to customer needs. Field Services personnel must adhere to installation and safety protocols and follow directives from the Field Team Leader.

Position Details:
Type: Full-Time
Compensation: Competitive Pay - $20.00/hr based on experience

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install broadband equipment at customer locations
  • Engage with subscribers and represent the company professionally
  • Configure and connect customer equipment to the Mercury Network
  • Troubleshoot customer broadband equipment
  • Support the sales team with localized marketing initiatives

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Adhere to cabling procedures for residential and commercial installations
  • Comfortable working in elevated or confined spaces such as ladders, roofs, attics, and crawl spaces
  • Basic mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to operate standard hand and power tools
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Fundamental understanding of computer networking
  • Utilize PC applications for programming and diagnosing communication equipment
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Self-motivated and customer service-oriented
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
