Field Services Technician I

Company Overview: Mercury Broadband is a prominent provider of high-speed Internet and digital phone services. Established in Topeka, KS, the company recognized the necessity for Broadband Internet access in rural regions. A unique strategy was developed to serve these "last-mile" customers by extending high-capacity fiber optic networks combined with the reliability and flexibility of advanced wireless technologies. Mercury Broadband connected its first subscriber in December 2007 and has since expanded its network, headquartered in Kansas City, to serve communities across five Midwestern states.

Position Overview: The Field Services Team at Mercury Broadband is the face of the company, engaging with customers professionally and attentively. Team members are expected to be thorough and conscientious in their work, adhering to installation and safety protocols as well as following guidance from the Field Team Leader.

Position Details:

  • Location: Topeka, Kansas
  • Type: Full-Time
  • Compensation: Competitive Pay - $20.00/hr based on experience

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install broadband equipment at customer locations
  • Engage with subscribers and represent the company professionally
  • Configure and connect customer equipment to the Mercury Network
  • Troubleshoot customer broadband equipment
  • Support the sales team with localized marketing initiatives

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Adhere to cabling procedures for residential and commercial installations
  • Comfortable working in various environments including ladders, roofs, attics, and confined spaces
  • Basic mechanical aptitude
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools
  • Proficient in basic computer operations
  • Understanding of computer networking principles
  • Ability to use PC applications for programming and diagnosing communication equipment
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Self-motivated and customer service-oriented
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
