Job Overview

The Connecticut Institute for Communities Inc. is seeking a dedicated Family Support Specialist to enhance our Early Learning Programs / Head Start initiative. In this role, you will play a crucial part in empowering families enrolled in our program by offering essential support, resources, and advocacy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Relationship Building: Establish and nurture connections with families, guiding them to valuable community resources and services.
  • Advocacy: Act as a champion for families, assisting them in navigating services and addressing their unique needs.
  • Goal Setting: Collaborate with families to set and achieve objectives related to education, employment, and overall family wellness.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Head Start personnel to ensure high-quality service delivery to families.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain precise and current documentation of family interactions, services rendered, and child health records.
  • Program Involvement: Engage in program planning and recruitment efforts.
Qualifications:
  • Possession of a certificate or degree in social work, human services, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working with low-income families and children.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Capacity to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Familiarity with community resources and services.
  • Bilingual proficiency is preferred.
  • Ability to uphold confidentiality and manage sensitive information.
  • Commitment to principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
