Position SummaryThe Behavioral Health Department encompasses various programs, including the Outpatient Clinic, Project Reward, Multisystemic Therapy (MST), and Intensive In-Home Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Services (IICAPS). Multisystemic Therapy is a comprehensive, in-home treatment approach designed for adolescents exhibiting antisocial or delinquent behaviors. This model emphasizes family involvement, empowering caregivers to effectively address current and future challenges. Families actively participate in the treatment process, with a focus on parents as the primary agents of change. MST operates within a network of systems, including family, peers, schools, and community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver therapeutic services in clients' homes across various settings and communities.
- Manage a caseload of approximately 5 families, providing intensive clinical services multiple times per week for a duration of 3-5 months per case.
- Participate in weekly case planning and progress evaluations, receiving ongoing support from supervisors and team members.
- Engage in comprehensive training and supervision to master the MST model.
- Involve primary caregivers and key participants in active, change-oriented treatment by identifying and overcoming barriers to engagement.
- Utilize a range of evidence-based clinical techniques, including cognitive behavioral therapy, family systems theory, and behavioral therapies.
- Conduct thorough assessments of clients and families, gathering information on behaviors of concern and family strengths to inform treatment strategies.
- Maintain on-call availability for clients 24/7.
Qualifications:
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) credentials (LMSW, LPCA, LMFTA candidates may be considered if eligible for licensure within 120 days of hire).
- Bilingual candidates, particularly those fluent in Spanish, are preferred but not required.
- A minimum of one year of post-graduate experience is required.
- Familiarity with the MST model is preferred.
- Knowledge of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), or other evidence-based practices is advantageous.
- Flexibility and a strong orientation towards family-centered work are essential.
- A valid Connecticut State driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
- Awareness of the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the populations served is necessary.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and provide home-based services as needed.
- Demonstrated professionalism, maturity, and self-awareness, along with a non-judgmental attitude and the ability to manage resistance and rejection.
