Position Overview

The Department of Developmental Services is currently looking to fill a full-time position within the West Region, specifically at the Lower Fairfield Center.

Compensation Details:

  • Starting hourly wage: $24.00 (HM14).
  • Post-probationary rate: $25.11/hour (HN14).
  • Annual salary range for current employees: $45,870 - $62,188, based on experience.

Key Position Features:

  • Full-time | 1st Shift | 70 hours bi-weekly
  • Schedule: Friday through Monday | 7:00 am – 3:45 pm
  • Days Off: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
  • Flexibility in scheduling is essential to meet agency needs.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Obtaining an F-Endorsement on the driver's license is mandatory by the end of the probationary period.
  • Travel may be necessary.

Responsibilities:

As a Support Services Specialist 1, your duties will include:

  • Receiving training and independently applying policies and procedures aimed at achieving program objectives for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
  • Assisting individuals with daily living activities.
  • Engaging in therapeutic programs to enhance individual capabilities.
  • Providing guidance in personal hygiene, social relationships, and developing positive habits.
  • Implementing individualized program plans.
  • Participating in meal preparation and serving.
  • Maintaining a clean and healthy environment through housekeeping duties.
  • Facilitating social and recreational activities.
  • Utilizing behavior modification techniques to reinforce appropriate conduct.
  • Administering medications as trained.
  • Carrying out related tasks as assigned.
