EHS Program Coordinator

This position is responsible for overseeing, organizing, and executing the establishment of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) initiatives within a designated business unit at Carlisle Construction Materials. The role aims to implement strategies that minimize injuries and health risks while collaborating with unit directors and facility managers to identify, analyze, and resolve EHS challenges. The incumbent will report indirectly to the Director of Operations within the business unit and may supervise other staff members. Standard working hours are from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday, with potential travel requirements of up to 50% to support EHS objectives across various facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in regular strategic discussions with the Director of EHS and the business unit's Director of Operations.
  • Support the Director of Operations in strategic initiatives, including data analysis, problem resolution, and corrective action implementation.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to site leaders on safety tools, EHS system development, and collaborative initiatives.
  • Facilitate business unit EHS meetings alongside the Director of Operations.
  • Collaborate with Site Safety Champions to develop and uphold site-specific safety plans and EHS standard practices.
  • Conduct thorough audits for compliance and special emphasis throughout the business unit and other facilities.
  • Lead targeted EHS projects across the business unit and the broader organization.
  • Participate in management team meetings and safety committees as required.
  • Design and implement safety training programs, onboarding processes, and mentorship initiatives.
  • Act as the primary advisor on safety matters for leadership teams, supervisors, local safety committees, and hourly employees.
  • Maintain strong relationships with regulatory agencies and local safety organizations.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and state safety regulations, maintaining accurate reporting and accountability systems.
  • Engage in industry groups to remain informed about trends, challenges, and technological advancements.
  • Monitor OSHA recordable incidents and safety performance metrics, providing regular updates to leadership.
  • Oversee the investigation of EHS incidents, ensuring thorough root cause analysis and corrective actions are implemented.
  • Contribute to the strategic planning of manufacturing processes and facility upgrades, ensuring environmental and safety considerations are prioritized.
  • Support company initiatives focused on operational excellence and lean methodologies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Capability to assess process performance and recommend necessary improvements.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships, including waste disposal and environmental consulting services.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of environmental regulations across various media types, including federal, state, and local laws.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple time-sensitive tasks.
  • Familiarity with production processes and associated equipment.

Education and Experience:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in safety management or a related field, or equivalent education.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a health and safety role.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in safety management or a related field.
  • Six or more years of experience in safety management, particularly in manufacturing or processing environments.
  • Experience managing EHS across multiple sites.
  • Professional EHS certification (CSP, CIH) is a plus.
