Overview

Texans Credit Union is seeking a dedicated Financial Loan Consultant who excels in providing tailored product solutions and driving sales while ensuring exceptional member service and responsiveness.

Role Purpose and Objectives

The Financial Loan Consultant (FLC) plays a crucial role within the centralized sales team, acting as a primary contact for members throughout their loan journey. FLCs are adept at establishing rapport with members to identify their financial needs and offer appropriate solutions. They leverage this understanding to facilitate sales while consistently delivering high-quality member service. FLCs are skilled in multitasking, communicating effectively in both written and verbal forms, and achieving their performance targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive interviews with applicants to foster relationships and gather a complete financial overview, ensuring well-documented applications.
  • Analyze credit reports to cross-sell additional lending and credit union offerings, while educating members on strategies to enhance their credit scores.
  • Utilize effective questioning techniques, active listening, and persuasive communication to address objections and finalize sales.
  • Present and promote ancillary products (such as GAP insurance, extended warranties, and payment protection plans) while achieving designated penetration goals.
  • Build strong collaborative relationships with underwriting and processing teams, supporting fellow Financial Loan Consultants in a team-oriented environment.
  • Manage the loan pipeline to meet service level agreements through consistent follow-up and proactive communication, ensuring a high approval-to-funding ratio.
  • Guide members through the loan process, collecting necessary documentation, completing applications, and coordinating with the underwriting and processing teams.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of credit reporting, loan processing protocols, and underwriting standards.
  • Ensure loan files are thorough and accurate, with detailed comments and recommendations to assist in loan decisions.
  • Facilitate timely loan closings by promptly addressing loan decisions and underwriting requests.
  • Engage in outbound calling initiatives, contests, and other sales activities to drive business growth.
  • Adhere to all departmental and security policies, procedures, and federal regulations, including BSA requirements.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service by addressing member inquiries, resolving issues, and directing them to the appropriate departments to ensure satisfaction.
  • Provide backup support for general phone inquiries to assist members as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

Minimum of 1 year in consumer lending and at least 2 years in sales/service roles within a retail or financial institution environment.
