The Ladders is seeking a Mortgage Underwriting Specialist to evaluate financial data and determine the risk associated with various mortgage offerings. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in underwriting residential loans within the secondary market and a comprehensive knowledge of real estate regulations and compliance.

  • Build and maintain relationships with both internal teams and external partners
  • Ensure adherence to credit policies and regulatory standards
  • Conduct thorough assessments of mortgage credit from start to finish
  • Provide analytical insights and credit evaluations
  • Support compliance documentation and participate in special initiatives
  • Identify potential risks in transactions and recommend strategies for mitigation
  • Deliver timely analytics and essential data
  • Advocate for the services and products offered by the credit union
  • Guide and mentor junior underwriters and mortgage loan originators

Qualifications

The successful candidate should hold a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or Business and have at least 5 years of experience in mortgage loan underwriting. Familiarity with Texas lending products and Home Equity offerings is advantageous.
