Texans Credit Union is seeking a dedicated Loan Advisor to deliver tailored financial solutions and drive sales while ensuring exceptional member service and responsiveness.
Role Purpose and Objectives
The Loan Advisor (LA) role within our centralized sales team acts as a primary contact and sales authority for our members throughout their loan journey. LAs excel at establishing rapport with members to identify their financial needs and provide suitable product offerings. They are adept at multitasking, communicating effectively in both written and verbal forms, and consistently achieving their performance targets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive interviews with applicants to build relationships and understand their complete financial situation, ensuring well-documented applications.
- Analyze credit reports to cross-sell additional lending and credit union offerings, while educating members on strategies to enhance their credit scores.
- Utilize open-ended questions and active listening skills to address objections and successfully close sales.
- Present and promote ancillary products (such as GAP insurance, extended warranties, and payment protection plans) while achieving established penetration goals.
- Collaborate effectively with underwriting and processing teams, while also supporting fellow Loan Advisors in a team-oriented environment.
- Manage the loan pipeline to meet service level agreements through consistent follow-up and proactive communication, ensuring a high approval-to-funding ratio.
- Guide members through the loan process, gather necessary documentation, complete applications, and forward them to the underwriting/processing team.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of credit reporting, loan processing protocols, and underwriting standards.
- Ensure loan files are thorough and accurate, with detailed comments and recommendations to facilitate loan decisions.
- Facilitate timely loan closings by responding promptly to underwriting and processing inquiries.
- Engage in outbound calling campaigns, contests, and other sales initiatives to drive business growth.
- Adhere to all departmental and security policies, procedures, and federal regulations, including BSA requirements.
- Deliver outstanding customer service by addressing member inquiries, resolving issues, and directing them to the appropriate departments to ensure satisfaction.
- Provide backup support for general phone inquiries to assist members as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Motivated and competitive with a focus on exceeding sales and lending objectives.
- Ability to foster a sales/service-oriented environment.
- Strong understanding of lending practices, credit reports, and ancillary loan products.
- Familiarity with a variety of financial products and services.
- Exceptional member service abilities.

- Excellent time management and organizational capabilities.
- Professional demeanor in both attitude and appearance.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
Minimum of 1 year in consumer lending.
At least 2 years of sales/service experience in a retail or financial institution setting.
Note: Candidates under consideration must successfully complete a credit check, background check, and drug screening.
