Position Overview
The University of Nevada, Reno is seeking an Administrative Assistant 2 within the Parking and Transportation Services Department. This role is essential for delivering exceptional customer service and managing financial transactions through various communication channels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver professional customer service while effectively managing challenging situations in person, via phone, or through email.
- Adjust to evolving circumstances and address customer needs promptly.
- Input and monitor customer data accurately.
- Assess customer parking eligibility and provide guidance on alternative transportation options.
- Generate daily system reports for departmental deposits and compile operational data regularly.
- Review incoming applications for completeness and offer assistance as needed.
- Communicate detailed information regarding specific programs and policies to customers.
- Facilitate ADA parking arrangements for individuals requiring assistance.
- Process citation voids in accordance with departmental policies.
- Issue daily permits for restricted areas.
- Collect and accurately process all revenue received in person or through the mail.
- Manage payroll deduction enrollments, cancellations, or exchanges accurately.
- Complete outgoing mailings and perform other assigned duties.
Qualifications:
This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, along with two years of clerical and administrative support experience, which includes:
- Maintaining records and files.
- Preparing various materials using a personal computer or word processor.
- Assisting customers with forms and applications.
- Performing secretarial duties in support of professional staff.
Alternatively, candidates may qualify with one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant I in Nevada State service or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
A valid Class 'C' driver's license or higher is required upon appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
Physical Requirements:
This role necessitates significant walking or standing, with the ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently.
Preferred Skills:
- Strong communication skills.
- Proficiency in data entry.
Work Schedule:
The standard work hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, subject to change based on organizational needs.
Compensation:
This position is classified under Grade 25, with salary determined based on qualifications and internal equity.

Employees are enrolled in the Public Employees' Retirement System of Nevada (PERS) upon hire, with various health insurance options, life insurance, and generous leave policies available.
