Coordinator/Manager, Regulatory Compliance

Job Description

The Office of Research Integrity & Security at the University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a Coordinator or a Manager, Regulatory Compliance. Both positions report to the Director of Research Integrity & Security within the division of the Vice President for Research and Innovation.

Regulatory Compliance positions help ensure compliance with federal regulations and University policies that address campus-wide activities such as effort reporting, conflicts of interest, conflicts of commitment, export controls, economic sanctions, and research security. Responsibilities include reviewing regulations; creating and conducting training programs; creating and overseeing compliance programs, policies and procedures; and serving as a resource to senior administrators, faculty, and staff in managing regulatory compliance issues.

The Coordinator is responsible for independently performing duties while collaborating with the Director or more experienced staff on unfamiliar or novel situations. The Coordinator solicits and reviews documents such as effort certification reports, conflict of interest disclosures, compensated outside activity requests, international travel requests, international shipments, and export control evaluations of research projects. Based on the review of these documents, the Coordinator determines compliance, requests more information or makes recommendations for denial. Additionally, during Facilities and Administration (F&A) rate negotiation base years, the Coordinator leads the campus-wide space survey.

The Manager is responsible for performing the full range of work assigned to the Coordinator with increased independence and additional responsibilities, reflecting a greater body of knowledge and experience. As a subject matter expert, the Manager manages compliance programs, providing insights and recommendations on specialized topics and recommending solutions to advanced problems. Additionally, the Manager serves in roles such as Export Control Officer and Conflict of Interest Designated Official.
