Position Overview:

This is a part-time instructional role focused on delivering quality education in the Humanities, including Art History, within a correctional facility setting. The compensation for this position will be aligned with the applicant's educational background and professional experience, adhering to the guidelines set forth by the Virginia Community College System (VCCS).

Responsibilities:

  • Teach courses in Humanities, focusing on providing students with the necessary skills and knowledge to earn associate degrees and certificates.
  • Engage with students in a correctional environment, adapting teaching methods to meet the unique challenges of the setting.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance instructional strategies and effectiveness.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and adhere to institutional deadlines for reporting.

Qualifications:

Applicants must possess a Master's degree in Humanities or a related field, with at least 18 credit hours of postgraduate study in Humanities. A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are also required.

Preferred Experience:

Experience in higher education, particularly within a community college or correctional setting, is highly desirable. Familiarity with instructional technologies and learning management systems will be advantageous.

Special Requirements:

Successful candidates will undergo a background screening as mandated by the Virginia Department of Corrections. Applicants are expected to comply with all institutional policies and procedures.
