Job OverviewPosition Summary: A Certified Recovery Support Specialist is an individual who has successfully navigated their own recovery journey and advocates for self-determination, personal accountability, and empowerment essential to self-directed recovery. This role involves facilitating structured activities within a peer support framework that encourages social interaction, recovery, wellness, self-advocacy, and the development of natural support systems, as well as the maintenance of skills necessary for community living. The specialist understands the elements that foster recovery and how to cultivate environments that support this process.

Productivity Expectations

  • Achieve the required minimum of billed hours and target staff hours at 100% annually.
  • Maintain daily attendance at a minimum of 70% as per clinical guidelines.
  • Ensure a maximum face-to-face ratio of 30 individuals per Certified Recovery Support Specialist.

Documentation and Compliance

  • Accurately document services related to treatment outcomes within specified timeframes, adhering to agency standards.
  • Maintain all records in compliance with applicable policies, laws, and instructions.
  • Ensure all services are delivered according to guidelines and document care in accordance with agency requirements.
  • Complete all notes in Care Logic and sign them within 24 hours of service delivery.
  • Achieve a minimum chart audit score of 70% or higher for all clients on the caseload.
  • Address and rectify all weekly reports as necessary within the timeframe set by the supervisor.
  • Maintain billed staff hours in comparison to target staff hours at a minimum of 100%.
  • Ensure treatment plans and service orders are signed on the same day as admission or change.
  • Obtain authorization for services prior to delivery, except for intake appointments, which should be authorized within 5 business days.
  • Resolve failed activities and claims within 10 days.
  • Achieve a Quality Improvement Internal Audit score of at least 90%.
  • Ensure that at least 85% of the active caseload receives at least one face-to-face service each quarter.
  • Maintain staff cancellation rates below 5%.
  • Comply with Human Resources requirements for all training, including Relias.

Community Engagement

  • Collaborate with behavioral health providers and community organizations through regular meetings to engage and transition clients throughout various systems of care.

Required Knowledge & Skills:

  • Understanding of serious mental illness, self-help strategies, and community resources.
  • Awareness of clients' rights and relevant agency and federal policies.
  • Familiarity with client record documentation and service plan development.
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention protocols.
  • Experience with peer individual and group therapy techniques.
  • Ability to observe, document, and report on individual functioning.
  • Capacity to read and comprehend assessments and evaluations for treatment planning.
  • Skill in helping clients develop independence, self-confidence, and self-esteem.
  • Aptitude for empowering individuals with disabilities to explore new options and resources.
  • Effective communication skills with clients and their families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities, maintaining confidentiality, and working independently under general supervision.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and active listening skills.
  • Ability to set and prioritize goals and objectives for assigned programs.
  • Support clients in obtaining income, entitlement benefits, and health insurance.
  • Facilitate connections between clients, their families, and various community resources.

Required Education & Experience: Candidates must have a minimum of two years of sobriety and be actively engaged in recovery.

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's degree preferred).
  • Certification from the Georgia Certified Peer Specialist Project.
  • A minimum of 40 hours of CPS training is required.
  • Experience in serious and persistent mental illness (SPMI) with a focus on person-centered, recovery-oriented approaches.
  • Knowledge of advocacy and WRAP plans.
  • Understanding of psychosis and substance abuse or CARES.
