We are working with our Client, STARC Systems, a globally recognized leader in industrial temporary modular wall systems, in seeking a Human Resources Manager to join their team working on-site in Brunswick, Maine



Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources Manager will run the daily functions of the HR department including recruiting, interviewing, and facilitating the hiring of qualified staff, administering benefits, leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. This role is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level in the following HR functional areas: recruiting and onboarding, workers’ compensation, safety team planning, benefits administration, and employee relations with oversight of all HR administrative functions and tasks. This position is also responsible for aligning the HR objectives with the business objectives in designated business units. The position formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization.

Requirements for the Human Resources Manager:

  • BS degree in a related field or equivalent work experience plus a minimum of 5 years Human Resources generalist experience. HR certification a plus.
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and exercise sound judgment.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Ability to remain calm while working under pressure in a busy environment.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Power Point is essential.
  • Exhibit extraordinary discretion, confidentiality, flexibility, and willingness to work closely with our team.
  • Experience with Paylocity HR software a plus; familiarity with administration of 401k plans, medical/dental insurance, COBRA, ERISA, FMLA, and related state and federal regulations a plus.
  • Must have strong customer support orientation (for internal/external customers) with a demonstrated professional demeanor.
  • Must have strong skills in organization and planning, demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment and problem solving.



Responsibilities of the Human Resources Manager:


  • Oversees the daily workflow of the HR department and supervision of Administrative Assistant.
  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required.
  • Compliance management including background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Implementation of new hire orientation, maintaining employee files and verifying all required documentation relating to personnel activities.
  • Implements employee recognition programs.
  • Assists in performance evaluation and development programs.
  • Partners with leaders and managers to for ongoing coaching and development.
  • Manage employee relations, resolve complex issues, conduct investigations and maintain a positive working environment while following the company’s core values.
  • Participates in performance management including disciplinary meetings and terminations.
  • Performs tasks required to administer and execute programs including compensation, benefits, and leaves; productivity, occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Review, educate and communicate all company policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of state and federal laws. Partners with the legal department as needed and recommends best practices accordingly.
  • Manage all Worker’s Compensation claims and OSHA logs. Pull quarterly reports and OHSA data as needed.
  • Implement and manage HRIS System, Performance Dashboard, and Reporting.
  • Oversee Health Benefits Open Enrollment and monthly benefit enrollments for new hires and change requests.
