Position Overview:

This role is responsible for maintaining a safe, dependable, and cost-effective fleet of vehicles, including ground support equipment and street vehicles. The Fleet Operations Manager ensures the proper utilization and care of physical assets, aids in preventing equipment failures, manages costs, oversees vendor relationships, collaborates closely with auto mechanics and internal stakeholders, and conducts regular audits of equipment and facilities. This position also monitors the maintenance of fleet vehicle equipment and maintains automotive cost efficiency by identifying trends, tracking key expense indices, and implementing cost-saving measures. Additionally, this role supervises mechanics within the department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule preventative maintenance inspections and review outcomes, monitor repairs, and conduct vehicle audits to ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and aesthetic standards.
  • Analyze equipment or vehicle system failures to identify root causes and resolve issues, coordinating repairs with internal and external teams.
  • Ensure adequate inventory levels (e.g., parts, tires) to support operational processes.
  • Adhere to purchasing limits, expense approval protocols, and equipment disposal guidelines to remain within budgetary constraints.
  • Review and authorize automotive expenses.
  • Assess employee training needs to develop continuous improvement plans.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and address individual and group performance challenges.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient knowledge of mechanical fundamentals, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair related to vehicle or aircraft fleet operations.
  • Ability to manage equipment repairs and oversee the resolution of issues using tools, machinery, and standard technical equipment.
  • Capability to manage inspections, physical assets, and foster productive relationships with vendors.
