Job Summary

The University of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Pharmacist to join our team in the areas of malignant hematology and bone marrow transplant. As a key member of our oncology pharmacy team, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the development of innovative treatment plans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in multidisciplinary teaching rounds on combined malignant hematology/BMT services
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to prepare, release, and coordinate chemotherapy and anti-cancer orders for inpatient administration
  • Design and implement supportive care plans and treatment plans in Beacon for new therapies
  • Provide patient and caregiver medication education through weekday meds-to-beds services and discharge counseling
  • Mentor and precept PGY2 oncology pharmacy residents, PGY1 pharmacy residents, and pharmacy students
  • Contribute to provider and nursing education on oncology-specific pharmacology and therapeutics
  • Participate in interdisciplinary quality improvement initiatives and academic research
Requirements
  • Bachelor's in pharmacy or PharmD degree required
  • PGY-1 residency required or equivalent hospital experience (3 years)
  • PGY-2 residency preferred for specialty areas
  • Commonwealth of Virginia State Board of Pharmacy license required
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider certification required
Physical Demands

The job requires sitting, standing, and walking for prolonged periods. Repetitive motion includes typing. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills are required, along with attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull < 20 lbs. May be exposed to fumes, chemicals, blood/body fluids, and infectious disease.
