Position Overview:
The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking qualified candidates for an Open Rank, Open Track faculty role within the Division of Hematology/Oncology. This position focuses on classical or non-malignant hematology.

Program Details:
The Classical Hematology Program is comprised of a dedicated team of specialists skilled in managing a wide range of hematologic disorders. These include, but are not limited to, hemostatic and thrombotic conditions, various anemias, platelet disorders, bone marrow failure syndromes, myeloproliferative disorders, and other rare hematologic diseases.

Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Provide clinical care to adult patients across multiple outpatient sites.
  • Participate in the inpatient hematology consult service on an as-needed basis.
  • Engage in the education and assessment of medical students, residents, fellows, and other healthcare learners.

Research and Academic Engagement:
In addition to clinical responsibilities, the candidate will have opportunities to contribute to clinical and/or translational research, enhancing their scholarly output. Active participation in teaching is a vital component of this role.

Qualifications:
Applicants must possess an MD or equivalent degree and be board certified or eligible in Hematology. Board certification in Internal Medicine is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in an academic career, evidenced by prior research or educational experience.
