Position Overview:
Join the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist, where you will collaborate closely with esteemed Hematopathologist Faculty to execute essential Bone Marrow functions.

Key Responsibilities:
• Analyze and review outside referral cases by inputting laboratory data into the EPIC consult system.
• Conduct comprehensive 500 cell differentials.
• Prepare presentations for weekly tumor board meetings.
• Educate and mentor residents in laboratory practices.
• Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

Work Schedule:
This role typically operates Monday through Friday, from 8 AM to 4:30 PM, with flexible hours available. Currently, there is no expectation for weekend shifts.

Core Duties:
Conduct patient testing and quality control assessments, while developing and maintaining proficiency in routine laboratory operations.Manage inventory effectively and utilize supplies and reagents appropriately.Perform advanced troubleshooting and maintenance on laboratory equipment.Facilitate seamless shift transitions.Engage in quality assurance and compliance initiatives.Investigate and resolve any issues or complaints that arise.Act as a mentor and role model for Clinical Laboratory Scientist 1 staff and healthcare professional students.Additional tasks may be assigned as necessary.
Compensation:
Position compensation is set at $44.54 per hour.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Education: An Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) or an equivalent combination of education and training, including 60 semester hours with coursework in Chemistry and Biology, or a Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, or a related field.
• Licensure: ASCP certification is required within 24 months, or equivalent military experience.

Physical Requirements:
This position involves standing and sitting for extended periods, frequent travel, bending, reaching, and repetitive motions. Strong communication, auditory, and visual skills are essential, along with attention to detail and legible writing ability. The role may require lifting and handling of materials, and exposure to various laboratory conditions.
