This position involves executing a range of tasks delegated by registered nurses, ensuring that patient care is delivered effectively and in line with established protocols. The technician plays a vital role in maintaining a safe, organized, and well-stocked environment for patient care.

About CHRISTUS Health:

CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital - Westover Hills is a prominent healthcare facility with 150 beds, catering to the rapidly expanding community in San Antonio. The hospital offers specialized services such as orthopedic and surgical care, intensive care, women's health, a newborn nursery, comprehensive cardiovascular services, and emergency care, among others. The campus is also home to an Outpatient Imaging Center and several medical plazas, including a Family Medicine Residency Program.

Key Responsibilities:


• Uphold the OneCHRISTUS Competencies, demonstrating leadership qualities.

• Facilitate patient admissions, transfers, and discharges efficiently.

• Monitor and assess patient conditions, reporting any changes to the registered nurse.

• Safely escort stable patients to various departments as needed.

• Ensure cleanliness and proper management of medical equipment and supplies.

• Assist in inventory management and ordering of necessary stock items.

• Maintain proficiency in specialized procedures, including venipuncture, splinting, and nonsterile dressing changes.

• Prepare for emergency procedures and support the registered nurse as directed.

• Operate patient monitoring devices and record vital data under the supervision of the registered nurse.

• Conduct phlebotomy and collect laboratory specimens as required.

• Adapt patient care methods to meet the diverse needs of patients, considering their physical, psychosocial, and cultural backgrounds.

• Perform clerical duties, including managing patient records and transcribing orders.

• As a Patient Registrar, greet patients warmly and document essential information accurately.

• Adhere to the CORE values of CHRISTUS Health in all interactions.

• Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

A. Education/Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED is preferred.

B. Experience

  • 1-2 years of experience in patient care within an acute care setting or a valid EMT license in lieu of experience.

C. Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

  • Current BLS certification is mandatory.
  • ACLS certification required within six months of employment for specific associates.
  • PALS certification required within six months of employment for specific associates.
  • EMT Basic or EMT Intermediate license is preferred or required in lieu of experience.
