Cryogenic Valve Systems Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Cryogenic Valve Systems Engineer to join our Fluids team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for defining initial system requirements, facilitating architectural trade studies, and formulating early design cycles for cryogenic valves.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define system requirements and develop detailed design specifications for cryogenic valves
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate cryogenic valve systems into spacecraft and upper stages
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and technical reports
- Work with suppliers to design, build, test, and analyze components for cryogenic valve systems
- Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation plans for hardware and software components
- Participate in technical assessments and provide input on system design and development
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, Systems Engineering, or related technical field
- 8+ years of experience in fluids and mechanical systems/components, with a focus on cryogenic valve systems
- Experience developing, integrating, and certifying aerospace systems for flight
- Experience with fluid components, including solenoid valves, directional valves, manifolds, regulators, pressure vessels, and instrumentation
- Leadership experience, including leading small teams and subcontractor teams to accomplish objectives
- Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
- Familiarity with agile or waterfall project management
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, Systems Engineering, or related technical field
- Systems Engineering experience, specifically requirements and interface definition, management, and verification
- Cryogenic fluids experience
- Experience with 3D CAD programs (Creo preferred) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) programs (ANSYS preferred)
- Experience with upper stages and spacecraft
- Experience with the entire life cycle of a propulsion and fluid system
