Senior Fluid Systems Engineer for Spacecraft

Position Summary:

This position plays a crucial role in the development and operation of New Glenn, our state-of-the-art heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle designed for various missions, including crewed flights. The first stage of this vehicle is fully reusable, emphasizing our commitment to sustainable space travel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of fluid systems for rocket applications, ensuring compliance with performance, cost, and scheduling requirements.
  • Design and integrate complex fluid subsystems, including pressurization and propellant management.
  • Oversee the development and execution of acceptance and qualification testing for fluid components.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of fluid systems, addressing challenges promptly while managing associated risks.
  • Utilize advanced 3D CAD tools (preferably Creo) and Finite Element Analysis software (preferably ANSYS) to create detailed designs.
  • Deliver comprehensive design documentation in accordance with ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards, accompanied by thorough analysis reports.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in engineering, specifically with complex fluid systems.
  • Proven experience in designing fluid system components for spacecraft or launch vehicles.
  • Strong understanding of fluid components, including valves, pressure vessels, and fittings.
  • Knowledge of fabrication processes and quality control measures related to piping and machined components.
  • Ability to build trust and maintain professional relationships while fostering an inclusive work environment.
  • U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in fast-paced hardware development settings.
  • Familiarity with cryogenic systems, particularly LOX and LH2.
  • Background in designing for cost-effective manufacturing processes.
  • Understanding of cryogenic material properties and testing methodologies.
