About the Role:
This position is integral to our Lunar Transportation division, responsible for advancing the Blue Moon lander product lines. We aim to establish sustainable infrastructure for transporting crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

As a vital member of our dedicated team of specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will engage in the design and testing of cryocoolers tailored for zero-boiloff (ZBO) applications. Your collaboration with fellow engineers and technicians will encompass the entire lifecycle of these systems, from design and development to procurement, integration, testing, and troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design and thermal/fluid analysis of cryocooler components and testing assets.
- Conduct thermodynamic analyses and trade studies to optimize designs.
- Communicate analytical findings and the impact of design modifications on performance.
- Work alongside structural and manufacturing engineers to enhance component designs and interfaces.
- Ensure compliance with relevant requirements for system and component designs.
- Contribute to the testing of cryocooler systems and components.
- Aid in the formulation of test plans and procedures for comprehensive testing in collaboration with other facilities.
- Execute test protocols involving pressurized cryogenic and non-cryogenic fluid systems.
- Analyze test data to evaluate performance and system health.
- Draft and contribute to test reports.
- Participate in design and test readiness reviews.
- Adhere to Blue Origin's policies and procedures throughout your work.

Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in mechanical, civil, aerospace, or aeronautical engineering.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in fluid/thermal system development and testing.
- Proficiency in systems involving liquid or gaseous hydrogen, oxygen, helium, nitrogen, and water, with the ability to perform necessary fluid/thermal analyses.
- Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
- A proactive approach to project ownership and a strong commitment to safety.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or legally admitted into the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Over 3 years of experience in fluid system development and testing within research and development environments.
- Familiarity with cryogenic fluid systems, thermodynamic cycle analysis, heat exchanger design, and turbomachine design.
- Experience with fluid and thermal analysis tools such as Ansys, Thermal Desktop, or MATLAB.
- Proven track record in product development through various phases of the development cycle.
- Experience in operating test equipment and handling hazardous materials safely.
