Position Overview:

CGS is in search of a dedicated Software Asset Management Engineer to enhance our team focused on the precise management of software portfolios.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain comprehensive inventory records, including software ownership, licensing details, and performance periods, in alignment with Configuration Management protocols.
  • Ensure software is properly identified, controlled, and maintained throughout its lifecycle.
  • Conduct software functionality analyses to prevent unnecessary asset acquisitions and duplication.
  • Oversee software deployment to avoid excess usage.
  • Facilitate the acceptance and licensing of software.
  • Plan for the timely renewal of software licenses in accordance with Configuration Management practices.
  • Implement continuous improvement strategies to enhance technology spending and asset tracking within the Configuration Management Database (CMDB).
  • Support the management of the CMDB, ensuring its accuracy and relevance.
  • Identify and manage hardware and software-related assets, including versioning and dependencies, within asset management tools.
  • Oversee the lifecycle management of hardware and software until retirement.
  • Generate and distribute compliance reports on current assets and their statuses.
  • Conduct verification and audits of CMDB content.
  • Ensure compliance with licensing agreements and maintain accurate hardware inventory.
  • Manage license compliance audits and respond effectively to software vendor inquiries.
  • Enhance process efficiency by implementing key performance indicators and suggesting ongoing improvements.
  • Design and document processes related to software and hardware asset management.
  • Participate in other IT Service Management (ITSM) processes as required.
  • Conduct research on industry best practices and integrate them into organizational strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (8 years).
  • Strong understanding and practical experience with ITIL and configuration management best practices.
  • Experience in managing and maintaining a software library, including service level agreements (SLAs) and warranties.
  • Familiarity with various software vendors and licensing models.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in project management or support roles.
