Position Overview:

CGS is in search of a Software Asset Management Engineer who will play a pivotal role in overseeing our software portfolio inventory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain comprehensive inventory records encompassing software ownership, licensing details, and performance periods in alignment with Configuration Management standards.
  • Ensure proper identification, control, and management of software throughout its lifecycle.
  • Conduct software functionality analyses to prevent unnecessary asset acquisitions and avoid redundancy.
  • Oversee software deployment to prevent overuse and ensure compliance with licensing agreements.
  • Facilitate the timely renewal of software licenses in accordance with the Program's Configuration Management practices.
  • Implement continuous improvement strategies to enhance technology expenditure tracking and asset management.
  • Support the management of the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) to ensure accuracy and completeness of content.
  • Identify and document hardware and software-related assets, including versioning and dependencies, within asset management tools.
  • Manage the lifecycle of hardware and software assets until their retirement.
  • Generate and distribute various reports, including compliance and status reports on current assets.
  • Conduct verification and audits of CMDB content to ensure accuracy.
  • Verify software assets against licensing contracts and hardware assets against actual inventory, initiating corrective actions as necessary.
  • Manage license compliance audits and respond effectively to inquiries from software vendors.
  • Enhance process efficiency by implementing key performance indicators and suggesting ongoing improvements.
  • Design, execute, and refine processes related to software and hardware asset management.
  • Establish and maintain documentation for procedures, processes, and reports concerning asset and configuration management.
  • Participate in other IT Service Management (ITSM) processes as needed to maintain operational continuity.
  • Create and implement governance and strategic asset management functions.
  • Research industry best practices and integrate them into organizational procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (8 years of relevant work experience).
  • Strong understanding and practical experience with ITIL and configuration management best practices.
  • Experience in managing and maintaining a software library, including service level agreements (SLAs) and warranties.
  • Proficient in working with various software vendors and understanding their licensing models.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in project management or support roles.
