Position Overview:

CGS is in search of a Software Asset Management Engineer to enhance our capabilities in overseeing a precise inventory of software assets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain comprehensive inventory records that encompass software ownership, titles, licensing details, and performance periods in alignment with Configuration Management standards.
  • Ensure proper identification, control, and maintenance of software throughout its lifecycle.
  • Promote software functionality assessments to prevent unnecessary asset acquisitions and avoid redundancy.
  • Oversee software deployment to prevent overuse and ensure compliance with licensing agreements.
  • Plan for the timely renewal of software licenses in accordance with the Program's Configuration Management protocols.
  • Implement continuous improvement strategies to enhance technology expenditure and asset tracking within Configuration Management.
  • Support the management of the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) to ensure accuracy and reliability of content.
  • Assist in identifying hardware and software assets, including their versions and dependencies, within asset management tools.
  • Manage the lifecycle of hardware and software assets until their retirement.
  • Generate and distribute various reports, including compliance assessments of current assets.
  • Conduct verification and audits of CMDB content to ensure accuracy.
  • Facilitate license compliance audits and respond effectively to inquiries from software vendors.
  • Enhance process efficiency by implementing key performance indicators and suggesting ongoing improvements.
  • Design and refine processes related to software and hardware asset management.
  • Establish and maintain documentation of procedures and reports concerning asset and configuration management.
  • Participate in other IT Service Management (ITSM) processes as needed.
  • Conduct research on industry best practices and integrate them into organizational operations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (8 years).
  • Strong understanding and practical experience with ITIL and configuration management best practices.
  • Experience in managing and maintaining a software library, including service level agreements (SLAs) and warranties.
  • Familiarity with various software vendors and their licensing models.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in project management or support roles.
