The USC Keck School of Medicine is looking to recruit a full-time Anatomic Pathology Technician I. This role involves executing technical tasks and procedures that support the daily functions of the Anatomic Pathology Histology Laboratory within the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.

Additionally, the technician will offer specialized knowledge to ensure the laboratory operates efficiently, maintaining high standards of quality, productivity, and turnaround times.


Key Responsibilities:


Prepare tissue samples for microscopic analysis utilizing various methodologies, including fixation, embedding, sectioning, and staining to achieve optimal diagnostic quality.

Accurately execute all assigned departmental processes, such as embedding, microtomy, staining (including special stains), decalcification, coverslipping, and labeling.
Operate precision instruments and apply various reagents and chemicals to enhance tissue abnormalities for microscopic evaluation.
Prepare and manage solutions necessary for all laboratory procedures.
Identify, label, and process tissue samples in accordance with established protocols.
Maintain laboratory equipment by cleaning, changing solutions, monitoring temperatures, and replenishing supplies as required.
Ensure compliance with all relevant state and federal regulatory standards.

Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 9:30 PM to 6:00 AM

Compensation Range:
The hourly wage for this position is $40.93, with a shift differential applicable.

Minimum Educational Requirements:
Relevant undergraduate studies in Biology or Chemistry.

Minimum Licenses:

Minimum Certifications:
Certification or eligibility for certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) within one year of employment.

Additional educational qualifications may be considered in lieu of minimum education.
Minimum Experience: 1 year
Preferred Education:
Bachelor's degree

Preferred Licenses:
Histotechnician

Preferred Certifications:
Clinical Laboratory Specialist in Chemistry (ASCP) certification

Preferred Experience:

2 years
Preferred Skills:
Experience as a Histotechnician in a clinical laboratory setting.
