The County of San Diego Medical Examiner's Department is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Deputy Medical Examiner. In this critical position, you will be responsible for determining the cause of death for individuals under the jurisdiction of the Medical Examiner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough investigations at death scenes.
- Perform post-mortem examinations to ascertain the probable cause of death.
- Provide expert testimony and medical evidence during grand jury and court proceedings.

Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a valid medical license to practice in California at the time of appointment. Additionally, candidates should meet the following criteria:
- Obtain board certification in Forensic Pathology within one year of hire.
- Hold board certification in Anatomic Pathology.
- Be enrolled in or have completed a Forensic Pathology Fellowship.
Compensation and Benefits:
The base annual salary for this position is $239,595.20, with additional compensation for standby hours. The County offers a comprehensive benefits package, including employer-paid contributions to healthcare costs.
