The Cytology Specialist position within the Pathology Services is designed to enhance the operations of the Cytopathology Laboratory in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and conduct microscopic examinations of human cell samples to identify diseases or abnormalities.
- Receive, accession, and process GYN and non-GYN specimens, including blocks and slides.
- Assist in Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) and biopsy procedures, performing quick adequacy assessments.
- Manage incoming inquiries and requests via phone.
- Safely handle and dispose of hazardous and non-hazardous materials according to established protocols.
- Maintain and organize laboratory supplies, monitor inventory levels, and prepare basic reagents as necessary.

Work Schedule:
Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
Compensation:
The hourly wage for this role is competitive, reflecting the expertise and responsibilities associated with the position.
Qualifications:
Minimum educational requirement includes specialized technical training. Candidates should possess at least one year of relevant experience. A Cytotechnologist license/certification issued by the California State Department of Health is required.
