Position Overview:

The Community Safety Operations Supervisor plays a pivotal role in leading the department by exemplifying GLIDE's values and commitment to community service and safety. In this capacity, you will oversee department personnel to carry out various responsibilities that ensure the safety and support of GLIDE's programs, facilities, and special events. The Supervisor will assign tasks, provide mentorship, and demonstrate effective engagement strategies for staff, enabling them to interact safely and respectfully with a diverse community facing a range of challenges while fostering positive relationships within GLIDE's internal and external networks.

This role may necessitate extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Consistent and reliable attendance is essential, with schedule flexibility determined by organizational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage staff schedules (e.g., meal position charts, roving position charts, duty checklists, etc.).
  • Ensure compliance by monitoring staff breaks and meal periods.
  • Oversee the setup, execution, and closure of each Free Meals Program shift, including staff assignments and completion of post-shift tasks.
  • Direct daily activities related to safety support and security services for designated facilities and events.
  • Assist in the coordination of special events, including setup, staffing, breakdown, and cleanup.
  • Respond to conflicts, alarms, disturbances, emergencies, and disasters, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and supervising staff during incidents.
  • Document and investigate incidents involving clients and staff that require management review.
  • Participate in weekly meetings as assigned by management.
  • Compile incident reports and submit them to management promptly.
  • Communicate significant occurrences and observations that impact staff morale and departmental operations.
  • Keep staff informed of critical information affecting their roles and client interactions.
  • Model and mentor staff on professional conduct to support ongoing development and maintain departmental integrity.
  • Engage in regular training opportunities to enhance skills in client engagement and safety practices.
  • Provide guidance on conflict resolution and inclusive approaches to client service.
  • Stay informed about GLIDE's program offerings and community resources to assist staff in providing accurate information.
  • Notify management of personnel issues that may affect staff morale and departmental effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with other departments to address challenges and provide safety expertise.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a leadership role within a community-based organization.
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid required within three months of hire.
  • Crisis Prevention Certification must be obtained within three months of hire.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, with knowledge of de-escalation techniques.
  • Familiarity with safety and security protocols to protect individuals and property.
  • Ability to administer CPR/First Aid and assist during medical emergencies.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks within deadlines.
  • Capability to respond to high-pressure situations and work effectively in a demanding environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • This role is physically and mentally demanding, requiring employees to stand for extended periods and walk frequently throughout shifts.
  • Ability to respond swiftly to emergencies.
  • Must possess the strength and stamina to navigate multiple flights of stairs.
  • Effective communication skills are essential.
  • Proficient use of standard office equipment is required.
