Position Overview:

The Community Safety Operations Supervisor is responsible for leading the department by exemplifying GLIDE's core values and approach to community service and safety. In this capacity, you will guide department personnel in executing various responsibilities that support the daily operations aimed at ensuring safety and assistance for GLIDE's programs, facilities, and special events. The Supervisor will delegate tasks, provide mentorship, and demonstrate effective engagement strategies for staff to respectfully and safely interact with a diverse community facing various challenges, while fostering ongoing positive relationships within GLIDE's internal and external networks.

This role may require extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Consistent and reliable attendance is essential, with schedule flexibility based on organizational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and oversee work schedules (e.g., meal position charts, roving position charts, duty checklists, etc.).
  • Ensure compliance by monitoring staff breaks and meal periods.
  • Organize, lead, and conclude each Free Meals Program shift, including staff assignments and completion of post-shift duties.
  • Manage daily operations related to providing safety support and security services for designated buildings and events.
  • Assist with special events, including setup, staffing, breakdown, and cleanup.
  • Respond to conflicts, alarms, disturbances, emergencies, and disasters, coordinating with emergency services as necessary. Supervise staff during incidents to ensure adherence to safety protocols.
  • Investigate and document incidents involving clients and staff, preparing reports for management review.
  • Participate in weekly Return to Care meetings as directed by management.
  • Compile and submit incident reports promptly to management.
  • Communicate significant occurrences and observations that affect staff morale and departmental operations to management.
  • Keep staff informed of critical information impacting their roles and responsibilities through clear communication.
  • Model and mentor staff on professional conduct to support ongoing development and maintain departmental integrity.
  • Engage in regular training opportunities (e.g., CPI, CPR/First Aid) to enhance skills in compassionate and effective client engagement.
  • Promote conflict management and de-escalation techniques among staff to maintain community trust.
  • Stay informed about GLIDE's program offerings and community resources to assist staff in providing accurate information to those seeking help.
  • Report personnel issues that may affect staff morale and performance to management.
  • Collaborate with other departments to address challenges and provide safety expertise.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent with at least 2 years of experience in a leadership role within a community-based organization or a comparable combination of education and experience.
  • Must obtain CPR and First Aid certification within three months of hire.
  • Must complete Crisis Prevention Certification within three months of hire.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, along with knowledge of de-escalation techniques.
  • Familiarity with safety and security policies, procedures, and strategies.
  • Ability to administer CPR/First Aid as needed.
  • Capability to assist with safety during medical emergencies.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks within set timelines.
  • Aptitude for responding to high-stress situations and working effectively in a challenging environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • This role can be physically and mentally demanding, requiring frequent standing and walking throughout the shift.
  • Ability to respond quickly to emergencies.
  • Must possess the strength and stamina to navigate multiple flights of stairs during each shift.
  • Effective communication skills are essential.
  • Manual dexterity and proficiency with standard office equipment are required.

Compensation: $28 - $30 per hour. This position is subject to the collective bargaining agreement.
