Customer Service Specialist

OVERVIEW:

The Customer Service Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring seamless coordination between customer service, scheduling, carriers, and manufacturing teams to facilitate timely shipments. This position is integral to supporting facility liaisons responsible for managing production schedules, inventory, and logistics for inbound and outbound shipments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Process and track customer orders to align with the facility's business objectives.
  2. Streamline communication regarding specifications, orders, and customer needs to the manufacturing team.
  3. Maintain the integrity of the backlog system to support timely deliveries.
  4. Keep customer service informed about order statuses and assist in managing delivery requirements.
  5. Ensure carriers are updated on load readiness and manage pick-up and delivery schedules to prevent delays.
  6. Oversee carrier operations to ensure on-time pick-up.
  7. Review support orders for accuracy and completeness.
  8. Monitor finished goods inventory and coordinate shuttle logistics to offsite warehouses.
  9. Assist facility liaisons in managing production schedules and inventory levels.
  10. Participate in safety initiatives within the department.
  11. Support the management of inbound and outbound rail logistics.
  12. Provide backup support for facility liaison roles and the Logistics Manager as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates should possess a minimum of 2-4 years of relevant experience in transportation or customer service within the manufacturing sector. A strong understanding of manufacturing processes, scheduling, and product knowledge is essential. Successful candidates will demonstrate effective teamwork, problem-solving skills, and strong communication abilities.

EDUCATION:

A High School Diploma or GED is required. A BA or BS in Business Management, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related field is preferred.

SCHEDULE:

This position typically follows a day shift schedule, Monday through Friday, with occasional flexibility required for early mornings, nights, or weekends.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Candidates must be able to sit or stand for extended periods, walk distances, and occasionally lift up to 20 lbs. Proficiency in using office equipment and navigating manufacturing environments is necessary.
